OHIO — The Haunted Attraction Association released the top haunts across the country for 2022, including several locations across Ohio from Akron to Cincinnati. With Halloween quickly approaching, here are some of the top places to visit.
Akron Haunted Schoolhouse & Laboratory
The Akron Haunted Schoolhouse and Laboratory have been in northeast Ohio for nearly 50 years. In two historic south Akron buildings, visitors begin in the Haunted Schoolhouse, going through three floors in the old Thomastown Schoolhouse. After crossing Monster Midway, with food trucks and bar, they then head to the Laboratory for four more floors of scientific horror. For more information, click here.
Factory of Terror
The Factory of Terror is one of the largest indoor haunted houses in the world, according to the Haunted Attraction Association. Guinness World Records has recognized the attraction for its size three times. At more than a mile long, Factory of Terror offers five attractions: 1300 Lost Souls, Industrial Nightmares, Lafayette 13, Massacre on Mahoning and The Abyss. Ghostly Manor
The Ghostly Manor Thrill Center opens noon each day and is recommended for ages 10 and up. The manor is featuring new rooms and even more scares this year. For more information, click here.
Spooky Ranch
Beginning more than 30 years ago, Cleveland's haunted event takes visitors on a hayride through the Forest of Fear, where high-tech scenes, sets and live actors lie in wait. The "Famous Haunted Hayride" combines humor with fright with 3-foot-tall animated creatures and pyrotechnics. For more information, click here.
The Dent Schoolhouse
In the Dent Schoolhouse, visitors relive the legend of a murderous janitor with more than 400 carved pumpkins scatted the queue line outside the school. Behind the attraction is Monster Midway, offering an interactive experience, including mini escape games, fresh donuts and axe throwing. For more information, click here.
The Haunted Hydro
The Awakening has unfolded and a new journey into a mega haunt where visitors experience Monstrous Woods, the Cursed Courtyard and head into the Haunted Hydro. Visitors then head into Panic Alley where they can enter Escape experiences for $5 and enter to win prizes. For more information, click here.
