“We have our own tanks here to kind of eliminate stopping at gas stations,” he said. “It's pretty tedious for us, but the price of gas is just it's really hitting us hard as a local business.”

The American Automobile Association reports the current average price of diesel in Ohio is $6.10.

Hope said gas is not the only thing affecting the moving industry.

“We have a lot of labor,” he said. “Our labor costs really went up. Corrugated materials, boxes, furniture, pads, the stuff that we need to complete moves for customers... all the costs on that went up a few times.”

He said the company is working to keep current employees, hire new ones and help mitigate the increase in cost.

“A lot of customers, if they see like a hidden fee, they're not going to be happy about that,” he said. “So, we try to just make sure we're upfront and honest with them.”

Customer Ann Marie Raddell said she appreciates everything the team has done to assist during her family’s move.

“They've been kind and our house (is) chaos right now,” she said. “We didn't do an awesome job preparing and being ready, but I don't feel like they ever had an issue with us or they just have smiled through it and move some of our things to the side and have been very professional and kind. That's what we would look for in a moving service.”
