CLEVELAND — Cleveland Police Officer Shane Bartek’s family will receive mourners Monday afternoon, one day before the fallen patrolman will be laid to rest.

Family will receive mourners from 4-8 p.m. Monday evening at Grace Church, 7393 Pearl Road in Middleburg Heights, Ohio, according to Tomon and Sons Funeral Homes. Funeral services for Bartek will take place Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Grace Church. 

Bartek’s interment will take place at the Holy Cross Cemetery.

Before Bartek joined the Cleveland Division of Police in 2019, he was a friend to Mikael Lucas.

“He wouldn't want us to feel sad. He [would] want us to continue to live and remember his name the way that he lived his life,” Lucas said.

A Cuyahoga County grand jury issued on Friday 10 criminal counts in its indictment of Tamara McLoyd, 18, who is accused of killing Bartek.

City officials announced last week that Bartek was determined to have died in the line of duty on Dec. 31. 

The city previously said that Bartek was the victim of a carjacking. McLoyd had her bond set earlier last week at $5 million. Prosecutors are accusing McLoyd of killing the officer in the parking lot of an apartment building on Rocky River Drive. 

He was assigned to the Fifth District on the city’s northeast side.

Gov. Mike DeWine ordered flags throughout Ohio to be flown at half staff on Jan. 11 in honor of Bartek.
