CLEVELAND — Two members of the Cleveland Cavaliers are among the leading vote-getters in NBA All-Star Game balloting, according to the league on Thursday.
Cavs forward Jarrett Allen ranks No. 6 among Eastern Conference forwards. Guard Darius Garland is ranking No. 9 among Eastern Conference guards.
Allen and Garland have helped lead the resurgent Cavs who are sixth in the Eastern Conference with a 21-16 record. The Cavs have the second-best scoring defense in the league, allowing 102.6 points per game.
Starters will be determined by a fan vote. Reserves will be selected by league coaches.
Brooklyn’s Kevin Durant leads Eastern Conference forwards and Chicago’s DeMar DeRozan leads among guards. In the Western Conference, the Los Angeles Lakers’ LeBron James leads among forwards and Golden State’s Stephen Curry leads among guards.
The next vote update comes Jan. 13.
Cleveland hosts the NBA All-Star Game Feb. 20. The 2022 game marks the second time Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse has hosted the NBA All-Star Game. The arena hosted the game back in 1997. The Cavs also hosted the 1981 NBA All-Star Game at the Richfield Coliseum.
