MAYFIELD, Ky. — A litany of tornadoes wreaked havoc on western and central Kentucky late Friday night.

At least 88 lives have been lost so far, and thousands of residents have lost their homes or are without power or water.

Several buildings collapsed in the southwestern Kentucky community of Mayfield, and the damage was evident in Bowling Green as well. 

Crews and volunteers are working day in and day out to help the communities recover. President Joe Biden joined Gov. Andy Beshear on Wednesday to survey the damage.

“This has been the most devastating tornado event in our state’s history,” Beshear said at a news conference Saturday.
