CANTON, Ohio — The Ohio High School Athletic Association is returning the annual high school football state finals to Canton, the association announced Wednesday.
The 2021-23 state title games will be played at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium.
“The OHSAA is excited for this three-year agreement with the Pro Football Hall of Fame, as our student-athletes, schools and communities will get to experience Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium and all that Canton and the Hall of Fame Village have to offer,” said OHSAA executive director Doug Ute. "We are grateful to the Hall of Fame for their partnership, and we look forward to collaborating with the Hall year-round.”
The OHSAA played the 2017-19 state title games in Canton. Prior to a three-year stint at Ohio Stadium in Columbus from 2014-16, the state title games rotated between Massillon and Canton.
The 2020 state championships were originally scheduled for Canton, but moved to Obetz due to the pandemic. After only the Division I title game was played, Franklin County issued a stay at home order in November. The OHSAA was forced to relocate the remaining title games to Massillon at the last minute.
The 2021 title game will be played Dec. 3-5.
