CLEVELAND — A baby bald eagle, also known as an eaglet, was born in the wild in the city of Eastlake in early April.

What You Need To Know

  • An eaglet was born in Eastlake in April

  • A group of volunteers has been monitoring the eagle daily

  • A worldwide campaign was hosted to name the eaglet

Since then, volunteers with the American Eagle Foundation have been keeping an eye on this new addition by visiting the nest daily.

Charles Anderson is one of the volunteers and he has been monitoring the mother, named Kindness, since 2016.

Kindness is bonded with Jackson and the pair produced an eaglet.

The American Eagle Foundation hosted a worldwide naming campaign and announced Monday the name of the eaglet is now Erie.

“It has been crazy to see him grow so fast,” Anderson said of the Eaglet. "I’ve watched eaglets grow but not at this rate because I've never watched a nest where there was only one eaglet in the nest.”

Anderson said he spends a countless amount of hours outside observing the eagles and he enjoys sharing his knowledge of the animals with others.

“Growing up as a kid myself I never saw a bald eagle," Anderson said. "Now it's amazing to be so close by them and have this pleasure of documenting them and photographing them.”
