NATIONWIDE — Tens of thousands of pounds of raw ground pork patties are being recalled because they may contain black rubber, federal food officials say.

  • Frozen pork patties recalled over possible black rubber in product
  • Company got 3 consumer complaints of finding rubber in patties
  • Consumers urged to throw out product or return them to the store

The 48,371 pounds of "Johnsonville Grillers Cheddar Cheese & Bacon Flavor" frozen and boxed patties are manufactured by Johnsonville, LLC of Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin.

The products are 24 oz. packages and were produced on September 27, October 17, and October 18 of last year. They have 2019 "best flavor by" dates of July 24, August 13, and August 14, respectively. They also have establishment number "34225" printed on the carton.

The problem with the product was discovered when the company received three complaints of people finding rubber in the product.

The recalled patties were shipped nationwide, the Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service said Friday.

There have been no confirmed reports of injuries or adverse reactions to the products, FSIS said. Consumers with these products are urged to return them or throw them out. Anyone with questions is asked to call Johnsonville Consumer Relations at 1-888-556-2728.
