ORLANDO, Fla. — Del Monte is recalling cans of its "Fiesta Corn seasoned with red and green peppers" because they were not properly processed, which could lead to contamination that would make people sick.

The company is recalling 64,242 cases of 15.25 ounce cans. The cans have a UPC Number "24000 02770." They also have one of the following "Best if Used By" dates stamped on it:

  • August 15, 2021
  • August 16, 2021
  • Sept 3, 2021
  • Sept 4, 2021
  • Sept 5, 2021
  • Sept 6, 2021
  • Sept 22, 2021
  • Sept 23, 2021

Del Monte says because the cans were not properly sterilized, the food inside could be subject to spoilage organisms or pathogens that could cause life-threatening illnesses. However, there are no reports that anyone has gotten sick from the product yet.

The corn was shipped to distributors and retail outlets in 25 states, including Connecticut, California, Florida, North Carolina, New Jersey, New York, Texas and Wisconsin.
