The snow and rain may have stopped for the week, but the Ohio River will continue to rise after a record rainfall on Sunday and record snowfall through February.

These river levels could be the highest the Ohio River has seen since February 2018.

After 1-2 inches of heavy rainfall last Sunday, the National Weather Service has issued a flood warning through Saturday evening.

The flood warning includes:

  • Ohio River at Portsmouth
  • Ohio River at Maysville
  • Ohio River at Cincinnati
  • Ohio River at Meldahl Dam

Remember, turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flooding fatalities occur in vehicles. 

The ohio River in Cincinnati has reached the moderate flood stage and is expected to crest by mid/late morning Thursday. Currently, the river is over 56 feet and has impacted areas near the Ohio especially close to downtown. 

The Ohio River at Cincinnati is forecasted to remain in the minor flood stage until late Saturday.

The last time the Ohio River in Cincinnati crested this high was back on February 21, 2018, at 55.38 feet.

Other areas along the Ohio River have already reached the minor flood stage too earlier this week.

The Ohio River at Portsmouth is around 55 feet and forecast to crest at 56.09 feet by tonight through early Thursday morning.

  • Portsmouth 56 feet by early Thursday
  • Maysville 54 feet by early Thursday
  • Markland Dam 54 feet by early Thursday
