EL SEGUNDO, Calif. — The city of Los Angeles is facing a $1 billion budget deficit amid ongoing fire recovery efforts and a funding fight over homeless services.
Mike Bonin is a former Los Angeles City Councilmember and the incoming executive director of the Pat Brown Institute for Public Affairs.
He joined Kate Cagle on "Your Afternoon" to discuss the array of challenges facing the city.
The Juvenile Products Manufacturers Association estimates that 90% of the core products used to care for babies are made in Asia.
The issue stems from three votes in 2020-21 where he failed to disclose his financial ties to organizations benefiting from that decision.
Videos posted on social media showed a large crowd along Santa Monica Boulevard in Beverly Hills, and on Pacific Coast Highway in Laguna Beach.
Mayor Bass is anticipated to touch upon the city's financial health on Monday.
"I've been trying to focus on building the pie of the budget itself," said Councilmember Eunisses Hernandez.
The mayor is likely to discuss the city's rebuilding efforts, largely focusing on Pacific Palisades, which was devastated by January's wildfires.
