COLUMBUS, Ohio --- First Lady, Dr. Jill Biden, visited Fort Hayes Career Center on Friday. It's the second time in three months the First Lady took a trip to Ohio's capital city. The administration has designated Columbus as one of its workforce hubs. It's become a leader in manufacturing, EV Infrastructure, and biotechnology. Dr. Biden met with graduates and talked about good career paths.

Earlier this year, the Biden Administration named Columbus one of the five workforce hubs in the United States. She came in July to launch the title and now came back to central Ohio to see the progress of the workforce hubs.

The hubs are an initative to help train and educate youth on future careers to meet the work sector demand with large corporations like Google, Intel, and many others coming to Ohio. Part of the goal is to get people readily involved.

"So that's the Biden education pathway," Biden said," It starts with free, high-quality, universal preschool, for which I always say we have to get it right at the beginning. And then it creates a high school experience that prepare students for their next steps.

Julian Kelley a graduate who was able to get a construction job after immediately after high school told the First Lady for him it's not just a job but a career he can build upon. He said not many people get a chance to get first-hand experience in their future jobs.

"Right now, we're building a floor," Kelley said, "We help build community centers for a lot of sidewalks for residential areas as well."

He told Spectrum News he hopes other students who have a passion to build will be able to take advantage of the federal partnership.

"I feel like this is also a good thing for them to get out the school building to, you know, they can come here, do some hands on things like carpentry, HVAC," Kelley said. "They can actually even talk to different teachers to see different side of what's really going on."

"Ohio for the first time in decades will be a place that people are looking to invest in," David Cohen, Political Science Professor at the University of Akron said. "That's that's critical for for the state's economy. It hopefully means that a lot of our young people, when they graduate from college, aren't going to be immediately, you know, moving to another state, that they're going to be staying here and setting down their roots here."

"Ohio is building our future," Dr. Biden said, "And, there are so many ways to be a part of it. Find the path that's right for you and discover a career that challenges and excites you every single day. One that pays well and helps you reach for that for the life that you want."

The first lady also celebrated 'World Egg Day' by visiting Outward Farms, a local egg farm in Union County.
