OHIO — Construction season is right around the bend, bringing traffic cones and caution signs to Ohio’s roadways.

Among the expected projects this year are several spanning the Ohio Turnpike. The Ohio Turnpike and Infrastructure Commission approved a $319 million budget in 2025 for capital improvement projects; nearly $229 million of the 2025 capital plan is for roadway and bridge projects.

What You Need To Know

  • The Ohio Turnpike announced its 2025 capital projects

  • There are 11 counties that will have projects within the year, or by 2026

  • Projects ranged from pavement replacement to bridge replacements

The plan includes resurfacing 170 lane miles of roadways, pavement reconstruction at a toll plaza interchange, two mainline pavement replacement projects and many bridge projects.

“To limit delays for travelers on the Ohio Turnpike, we strive to maintain two lanes of traffic in all three lane sections of the turnpike during peak travel times,” said Chris Matta, chief engineer and deputy executive director of the turnpike commission. “Some single lane work zones will be necessary but will occur mostly during off-peak travel times or at night.”
