OHIO — The Ohio Department of Transportation announced it plans to award $15 million in grant funding to local cities and townships for roadway safety improvements and updated road signage.

“The safety of those who travel on Ohio’s roadways will always be a top priority," said Gov. Mike DeWine in a release. "Whether it's upgrading a major thoroughfare or installing better signage along a small township road, the projects we're supporting will help local governments maintain and improve the streets their citizens drive on each day."

The funding is part of the Small City Grant Program and the Township Sign Grant Program.

ODOT is investing more than $14 million into the Small City Grant Program to support nine projects in nine communities, which include creating roundabouts, upgrading traffic signals and improving roadways.

Additionally, as part of the Township Sign Grant Program, ODOT is awarding more than $845,000 for 38 roadway signage projects in 30 counties.
