CINCINNATI — Getting to important places like the doctor’s office, work or school can be a challenge for those without reliable transportation, but new programs across the state are looking to address that issue.

What You Need To Know

  • MetroNow! is a new service that allows customers to schedule a ride through an app

  • The shuttle arrives the customer's home or at a select location

  • Transportation systems across the state offer similar services

MetroNow! is one of the newest programs offered through Metro transit in the suburbs of Cincinnati. Similar to Lyft and Uber, customers can schedule a ride from a shuttle through the app or by contacting Metro, and the shuttle comes to pick customers up right outside their homes or other locations.

“If you really think about the impact transportation is making, we are helping people access essential things in their life to be healthy and have good food options and health care providers,” Brandy Jones, Metro's senior vice president of external affairs.

Programs similar to MetroNow! are offered across other cities in the state. In Columbus, COTA offers COTA//Plus, which allows passengers to schedule rides through an app. And Greater Cleveland RTA has ConnectWorks, which also lets customers book rides on demand.
