CLEVELAND — Peter Knab likes only two things. 

“Cleveland sports, and traveling independently," Knab said. "And so I decided to combine the two.”

Knab has cerebral palsy, and he gets around on a bluetooth powered pair of wheels. They have some mileage. He attended all 162 Guardians games this past season. Knab said the Guardians got him a special number 162 jersey. 

“I really picked it up in 2021 with 95 and then 129 in 2022,” Gnab said. “And then finally 162. I decided to go all in last year.” 

He said he found out firsthand about the marathon that is a baseball season. 

“The Sunday night prime time slot in New York and then a Monday night game here,” Knab said. “That was tough. I was pretty much asleep at that game the next day. Yeah, it counts.” 

The trips are also a way for him to challenge himself.

“There aren’t many people that do 162, whether they have cerebral palsy or not,” Knab said. “So the fact that I was able to do it with cerebral palsy, I would hope it gives people confidence to try to become more. People with disabilities to try to become more independent.” 

Knab said he likely won’t be at every Guardians game this season. He has a new goal, to visit every ballpark in the country. He has only four to go: Atlanta, Miami, Milwaukee and Philadelphia. Knab said all of them were on the Guardians’ schedule. 

“Atlanta is on my birthday, actually,” Knab said.
