COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State University President Kristina Johnson announced Monday that she will step down from her position in May 2023.
Johnson, 65, has served as the university's 16th president for just over two years.
“I have made the difficult decision to step down as president following commencement at the end of the academic year. This will allow a search for the next president to proceed and adequate time for me to assist with a seamless transition," Johnson wrote in a press release.
She did not give a reason as to why she has decided to leave the position.
The Board of Trustees will launch a search to find the university's 17th president, and Ohio State said it will share more details about the search in the near future.
Before coming to Ohio State, she was the chancellor of the State University of New York for three years, and held positions at Duke University, Johns Hopkins University and University of Colorado.
