YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio — The Youngstown City School District will move to remote learning from Jan. 11-14, the district announced Friday.

Jan. 12 was already scheduled to be an asynchronous learning day, meaning that students were prepared for remote instruction that day, the district said. 

Schools will be open for in-person learning Monday, but students should prepare to bring home their Chromebooks or other electronic devices to aid in their remote learning, the district said. 

A reason for the move to virtual learning was not given. 

Some Ohio districts, like the Cleveland Metropolitan School District, went to virtual learning this week due to the spread of COVID-19 while other districts, like Columbus City Schools on Friday, were closed due to staffing shortages. 

The district will supply students with two days worth of breakfast and lunches for take home from school on Monday. 

Following the Martin Luther King Jr. Day holiday on Jan. 17, the district is expected to resume in-person learning.
