OHIO — On Friday, Gov. Mike DeWine and Ohio Department of Health Director Stephanie McCloud signed an amended COVID-19 health order to clarify the state's policies surrounding masks, social distancing and gatherings.

DeWine discussed a few details about it on Monday. Dan Tierney, the press secretary for DeWine's office, said the state wanted to be more clear on the health order.

"Bottom line: Ohioans should continue to wear masks, socially distance, and keep their groups small," Tierney wrote in an email to Spectrum News 1.

The order has a few changes, including:

  • Children 10 and younger don't have to wear a face covering
  • Employees don't have to wear masks in the workplace as long as six-foot distancing is enforced
  • Six-foot distancing should be enforced at restaurants, including outdoor seating, unless there are barriers
  • Social distancing, congregating and capacity requirements of the order don't apply to religious observances or First Amendment activities
  • Events can allow more than 10 people in, as long as there is 10 people in each group, and each group is spaced six feet away

Some parts of the original health order remain unchanged, such as the K-12 mask requirement.
