COLUMBUS, Ohio — As businesses across the state are slowly transitioning back to the office, a company in Columbus is offering perks to workers who get the COVID-19 vaccine.

What You Need To Know

  • Atlas Butler is encouraging its employees to get vaccinated

  • Because of the type of job they do, they're aren't able to work from home

  • They hope it'll help get people back into the office safely

Andre Saunders is one of the 130 employees in the family-owned Atlas Butler Heating and Cooling. He’s a supervisor in the call center.

“Our techs do a great job in the field, so I feel like here in the office we need to be doing a great job as well,” said Saunders.

The nature of the job didn’t allow those techs to work from home during the pandemic, but employees like Saunders could. But now, as the coronavirus vaccine becomes available to anyone who wants it, the conversation has shifted from working from home to returning to the office.

“I think there is a $100 initiative for anyone who goes and gets vaccinated,” said Saunders. “Which is a big deal because it shows everyone in here is going to be safe.

Human Resources Director Monica Yanscik said other incentives include two extra hours of work added to an employees next pay check, and flex time to get the shot.

“When you’re able to get the vaccine, you go when you can get it at this point,” said Yanscik.

She said the goal is to get employees back to the office by the beginning of May.

“A majority of our employees want to get back to the office so we are thinking that the vaccination is one of the vehicles we can use for safety.”
