COLUMBUS, Ohio — In-person dining is back on the menu as Governor Mike DeWine announced another round of openings Thursday.

Restaurants will have the option to open for outdoor dining on May 15, and indoor service can begin on May 21.

Treva Weaver, COO of The Wasserstrom Company and owner of Zoup!, helped hash out the reopnening plan. She says crowded restaurants will be a thing of the past.

“Restaurants and bars are going to be asked to create a floor plan that complies with current social distancing guidelines. For example, under the current mandate, there are parties of ten or less — then each party is then going to be separated by six feet, or a physical barrier."

She says waiting for a table will likely happen in your car and you may start to see plexiglass partitions between tables.

As another rung of quarantined lives is removed, DeWine says the danger is still clear and present.

“As we open up the economy, let me just state the obvious and not shy away from it.  The risk is up. The more contacts that we have, the more that we do, the more risk that there is,” DeWine said.

He says it’s up to all of us to wear masks, practice good hygeine and keep others in mind to keep cases under control.

"If we relax, if we pull back, if we take things for granted, in a month, six weeks from now, seven weeks from now, things are not going to go the way we want them to go. We dont want to see a spike. We dont want to see that go up dramatically,” DeWine said.

The governor also said salons and barbers will be open on May 15.
