COLUMBUS, Ohio — Just a day before Ohio Governor Mike DeWine’s stay-at-home order is set to expire, he announced he is extending the order to a date not yet specified.

The order was due to end May 1. The new order will be extended with exceptions for businesses and industries that were scheduled to reopen.

“When retail opens up, well that certainly will be a major exception for that. Under the state’s reopening plan, retail stores and services will be allowed to start operating again on May 12, with certain mandates and recommended best practices,” said DeWine.

There is still no word on when restaurants, bars, hair salons or gyms will reopen.

The governor will make more information available on this extended order at his daily press conference on Friday.
