COLUMBUS, Ohio — As we've heard from Dr. Amy Acton, not all heroes wear capes.

Today the Central Ohio Transit Authority (COTA), along with Donatos Pizza, took time to honor the heroes working in public transit during the coronavirus pandemic.

  • They delivered more than 1,000 personal pizzas
  • Delivery was to 7 different COTA locations
  • 1600 Donatos employees showed up to make the pizzas

As public transportation is considered an essential service, COTA is continuing to provide its daily service amidst the COVID-19 outbreak.

To say thank you, COTA partnered up with Columbus- based Donatos Pizza and delivered more than 1,000 personal pizzas to seven different COTA locations.

These vital employees are transporting thousands of central Ohioans in the heath care field, to grocery stores and to local schools where children in need can receive free breakfast and lunches during this crisis.

"You are showing up every day and you are making sure that people in this community are moving because people in this community need help. I hope you know that you are valued and that you are appreciated and I want you to know that other people believe it too," said Joanna Pinkerton, president/CEO of COTA.

600 Donatos employees showed up to make these pizzas as the business stays open for carryout and delivery.

They even left thank you notes on every box.
