COLUMBUS, Ohio  — While The Roosevelt Coffeehouse lies dormant in downtown Columbus, workers are busy at the company's warehouse fulfilling a rush of online orders.

  • Healthcare professionals are bravely fighting on the front lines
  • An Ohio coffeehouse is stepping up its efforts to thank those heroes
  • The Roosevelt Coffeehouse is offering a “Buy One Give One” healthcare bag of coffee online for $9

When the quarantine took effect, the coffee shop decided to give thanks to our brave healthcare professionals by telling customers if they buy a bag of any of their coffee —the company will donate and hand-deliver a bag to a healthcare professional for free.

“That kind of led to the campaign we started. We're trying to do everything we can to give as much caffeine as possible to the people who need it the most,” said Brewmaster Frank Wright.

So, Wright and his colleague Andrew are working together to brew the coffee, package it, add the labeling and finally deliver the product — complete with a note of encouragement.

Wright says they've been overwhelmed by the support thus far.

“We have 300 total healthcare bags so far that we've been able to give away. We're about halfway through getting those out there now, trying to spread those to as many local hospitals as possible,” said Wright.

Wright says its been tough being away from co-workers and patrons of the coffee shop, but he knows he's doing his part in this time of great need.

“Just not being able to share a beverage with someone is definitely something I miss more than anything. I just love the idea that in the midst of everything else going on, and all the stress that people would be feeling, that right now we can grow a little closer together,” said Wright.

And at the end of the day, the moment of meeting our nation’s bravest makes it all worthwhile.

“I think if we all focus on those small, good deeds that everyone is trying to do and how exciting it will be when do get to get a chance to get back together in the coming month or so, I think it will be beautiful,” said Wright.
