PHOENIX, Ariz. —All of the players and coaches were available to the media just a few days before the big match-up with Clemson.
- Before the big game against Clemson on Saturday, the Buckeyes were available at Media day Thursday morning
- While many of the players said practice has been intense all week, they lightened up a bit at Media Day
- Coach Ryan Day says after a challenging end to the season and a few days off for the holidays, his team is refreshed and ready to go.
But as the intensity of the game grows, the players and coaches let loose and had some fun.
It’s no secret this Ohio State team is here to get one step closer towards a national championship.
“We’re playing for something huge and we understand that and we know the stakes are high. So, it’s been a very intense week,” said Wyatt Davis, Ohio State offensive lineman.
“I feel like we’re focused, ready to go, you know, locked in. Hopefully everyone's feeling the same way. But I do see from everyone on the team that we’re pretty focused,“ said J.K. Dobbins, Ohio State running back.
But Head Coach Ryan Day wants to make sure it’s an experience his team will never forget in a place many of his guys have ever been,
“The landscape is gorgeous where we’re practicing, with the mountains in the background… the different type of vegetation with the cactus, it’s just very different from where we are in the Midwest. And then when the sun is out, it’s beautiful, ” said Day.
“I mean, I’m from the west coast so the weather reminds me of home. I’m from California, so it’s been nice getting out of the cold,” said Davis.
“I’ve never seen a cactus is real life, so that’s the first time for that,” said Zach Harrison, Ohio State defensive end.
But Day let his very focused team have a little fun too — some of the players turning the table and becoming the interviewer.
“These guys, they’re funny. They’re real funny. Especially that little guy right there, J.K.,” said Davis.
It wasn’t all fun and games. These Buckeye players seemed focused and ready to go for their match-up.
