CANTON, Ohio—Empty Bin Zero Waste is open for business.
- Store is the first of its kind in Ohio
- The owner's passion for the environment motivated her to start the company
- Sells environmentally-friendly products, like stainless steel straws and bamboo toilet paper
“The excitement people have…it’s infectious,” said Teresa Mazey, owner.
That excitement, Owner Teresa Mazey says, is for Ohio’s first zero waste store.
Mazey says she was motivated to start the company after the birth of her granddaughter.
“It kind of organically happened, you know, less toxins and stuff like that, and then I just felt bad about what we’re leaving that generation to clean up with,” said Mazey.
The store has environmentally friendly products— like stainless steel straws, hygiene products, bamboo toilet paper, and items Mazey makes herself.
And while this store may be making history by being the first of its kind, the owner hopes this is just the beginning of stores just like it across Ohio.
“I’m just happy to be here, like regardless of whether I’m the first or the tenth,” said Mazey. “You know, there’s nothing like this in Akron or Canton, so that’s huge. It’s not really about being first. It’s about helping out the community and the environment.”
A store with a mission— that isn’t just business as usual.
“Not wasting any plastic or any paper, single use items. That's my passion and that's why we're doing it,” said Mazey.
