The law named after Baby Maddox has once again passed the state Senate.

Maddox Lawrence, just 21 months old, was taken and killed by her father after an Amber Alert was issued for the young girl.

"Maddox's Law" would increase the penalty for killing a child younger than 12. That crime would lead to a first degree murder charge.

The bill now moves to the state Assembly. Last year, the law was not passed by lawmakers there.
