Subway service has resumed after a pepper-spray incident at Union Square halted multiple lines in Manhattan Friday morning.

The MTA alerted New Yorkers that N, Q, R, W, 4, 5 and 6 trains were holding in Manhattan in both directions around 10:30 a.m. Additionally, L trains were not running into Manhattan.

The FDNY later confirmed that the service suspension stemmed from an individual spraying an aerosol on the subway platform at 14th Street-Union Square. Police didn't immediately say if anyone was arrested after the incident or if the suspect was targeting a specific person or group.

A man in his 70s was injured and transported to a nearby hospital for treatment, the NYPD said. It wasn't immediately clear what injuries the man sustained or what condition he was in.

Service resumed on all lines just before 11:30 a.m. but straphangers were warned that the lines, along with B, D, F and M trains, could experience some delays.
