Kyle Teel comes from a baseball family. His father, Garett, is a former professional baseball player and roving catching instructor for the Los Angeles Dodgers.

He was destined to be a baseball player.

"I can't remember when I got into it. I guess it was always a part of my life. Kind of woke up with the bat in the crib. My dad was baseball player and a baseball coach. He played for the Dodgers and was a roving catching instructor with them. So I kind of was just always around it. My mom is a softball player, so yeah, born with a bat in the crib," he said.

For Teel, the everyday challenge of the game is what appeals to him the most.

"It's really challenging and I like the challenge and you know, when you have your success it's, there's no better feeling. Especially when winning a big game or having a day where you get a few hits, it's it's all, it's all fun," he said.

Despite being a short drive from Fenway Park and the major leagues, Teel says he still seeks guidance from his dad.

"We talk on a daily basis," Teel said. "When it comes to offense and defense, we talk about it all and like I said before he was a roving catching instructor, so he's got me to where I'm at when it comes to this game. He's a big reason I am here right now."

According to Baseball America's latest prospect listings, Teel is ranked as the 26th overall prospect. He said the transition from AA Portland to Worcester has been a smooth one.

"It's been a lot of fun. It's been a lot of fun. I think that's the best way to describe it. A lot of hard work has gone into this and, and I've been having a blast," he said.
