When discussing his path to the major leagues, WooSox infielder Vaughn Grissom said family was an early influence.

"For me, my sister is five years older than me and she was always playing softball and I was at the ball field so I was always hanging around, wandering around with her team, with the baseball guys behind us and stuff so, just the love came from there," Grissom said.

Professional baseball players are creatures of habit. For the WooSox infielder, routine has been a key part of his success.

"It's huge," said Grissom. "It's almost the most important part you know. Like, you never know when that ball is going to be hit to you and you got to take care. I like to try to mimic every single play that I'm going to get in the game, just in case I get in the game I'm not like surprised or anything like that. It's also I think good for guys to challenge themselves, especially here. Just so in the game, it doesn't like surprise you at all. Like here with the machine, we turn the thing up you know. We turn it all the way up so when it's in the game it's slow and into we're under control and stuff like that. So having a good routine is what separates, I think, the best from the mediocre you know."
