The role of the AAA Worcester Red Sox is to prepare players for the big leagues. It also is a place where those who have made the majors come to work their way back from injury.
This week, former WooSox star first baseman Triston Casas returned to Worcester for a rehab assignment after a long stint on the injured list.
In this week's Inside The Clubhouse, Worcester manager Chad Tracy said it's nice to have the big slugger back at Polar Park.
"He's back! It's good to have him," he said. "First of all it's good to see him on his feet, healthy, getting ready to play games. We'll go at his pace here and do whatever we can to help him get healthy, get on track and get him back up to help our big league club."
It's also the week of the Major League Baseball trade deadline which meant some new faces in the WooSox clubhouse.
"We have players come and go all the time. But to get to know him, excited to watch him pitch. I always like to just put eyes on stuff first and let them go out there and do their thing and kind of go from there," Tracy said.
