WORCESTER, Mass. – Railers' forward Anthony Callin had a New Year's Eve he will never forget.
First, he got called up to the AHL for the first time, signing a pro tryout with the Springfield Thunderbirds. And then, he got to play in a game for the first time in his hockey career with his brother, Drew, and on the same line with his parents in attendance.
It was an incredible memory for him.
"Yeah, it was awesome. Never been able to play a legit game wih my brother, we were always just a little bit off in age," said Anthony Callin said. "So it was cool to get that opportunity with him, was on his line, had some shifts together. Family was in town, too, so it was good for the family in general."
It was also good for Anthony Callin's confidence to get to play at that level.
"Yeah, obviously, it helps the confidence a lot, you just learn a lot," said Anthony Callin. "You see the higher pace, the higher speed and you can reflect on it and say, 'this is where I need to improve, this is where I need to get to,' to bring it to that next level.'
Callin is back with the Railers who are on the road this weekend in Wheeling on Saturday and Sunday.
