WORCESTER, Mass. - The Worcester Bravehearts are set to host their league’s all-star game at the home of the Worcester Red Sox this summer. The two teams made the announcement on Thursday in the WooSox clubhouse.

“This is a day we love to celebrate. On a cold day in January we're talking about baseball in July," WooSox president Charles Steinberg said. "And I think that today is the epitome of Worcester as a community.”

“I can't say enough about the WooSox organization, how they've befriended our organization, the Bravehearts," Bravehearts president Matthew Vaccaro said. "Dr. Charles, Brooke Cooper, their whole team is phenomenal. And, for us to come full circle now, one year later, after announcing our partnership to have an All-Star game in the Futures League played right here at Polar Park is tremendous.”

Vaccaro believes this will mark the first time an FCBL All-Star game will be played in an active minor league ballpark. The Bravehearts last hosted the summer event in 2016 at Fitton Field.

The two baseball teams who call Worcester home made their partnership official last February following the Vaccaro Family’s purchase of the Bravehearts. General manager Dave Peterson said these kinds of relationships don’t happen everywhere.

“This is not something that happens in American cities across the country," Peterson said. "I think that what we have here in Worcester is very unique.”

The 2025 FCBL All-Star Game will be played on July 22 at Polar Park with a Home Run Derby at Fitton Field the day before.

Steinberg says the Bravehearts and their owners are dedicated to community baseball and the partnership has been enormously rewarding.

“To take it to this next level and have the Futures League All-Star game here," Steinberg said. "It validates so much of what we said would happen with Polar Park. You have year-round events. You have it whether the team is home or on the road. You've got young ballplayers who are going to come to Worcester, maybe for the first time. And the city grows.”

And Vaccaro, whose family has a large role in area Legion baseball and played for the former Worcester Tornadoes himself, says he’s looking forward to keep growing the game with the WooSox in Worcester.

“And all we're going to do is continue to put smiles on people's faces, families as they come to the ballpark," Vaccaro said. "And we look to keep building on it for years to come. This event that's going to happen in July is not only for baseball, it's for community, and it's for all the people to enjoy and to enhance their time here in Worcester.”
