FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - Bidding for back-to-back state titles, the Uxbridge Spartans showed the poise of a champion in the Division 7 final against Mashpee Wednesday night. And it was that poise which guided the undefeated Spartans to 42-20 victory and another title win at Gillette Stadium.

Uxbridge quarterback Rogan Devlin connected with Liam Kaferlein to start the scoring in the second quarter and then hit Thatcher Sweeney for a touchdown to help the Spartans take a 14-8 lead into the half.

In the third quarter, Devlin got into the end zone with his legs finishing off a nifty, 38 yard sideline scramble to give Uxbridge a 21-8 advantage. The senior would add another short scoring run in the fourth quarter. He finished with 156 yards passing and 70 yards on the ground.

"It's a surreal moment just making it this far with my family, I love those guys and yeah it just means a whole lot," said Devlin immediately after the game.

Cam LaChapelle paced the Uxbridge offense again rushing 19 times for 205 yards and two scores.

The Spartans defense also made key plays, and as they have all season long, forced opponents turnovers.

The win not only capped a second straight state title for Uxbridge, but also put the finishing touch on back-to-back undefeated seasons for the Southern Worcester County League powerhouse.
