WORCESTER, Mass. – A pop-up exhibit at Union Station tells the story of the Worcester Cold Storage and Warehouse Fire, and honors the lives of the six firefighters killed on Dec. 3, 1999.

Retired firefighters manage the exhibit.

It features a timeline for the day of the fire and the weeks following, made up of newspaper articles and pictures.

The exhibit also includes the artifacts and mementos the Worcester Fire Department received from all over the country, like T-shirts, patches and paintings.

Retired firefighter Angelo Bongovio said he'll never forget his brothers and the impact they made.

"They made the ultimate sacrifice,” said Bongovio. “They left families behind, moms, dads, sons, daughters. Their memory will be with us forever. That’s all I can hope, that the citizens of Worcester and the country and all that remember what these guys sacrificed."

On Tuesday evening, the Worcester Fire Department will hold a memorial ceremony on the 25th anniversary of the fire. Firefighters and city leaders will strike a memorial box, lay a wreath in remembrance and perform a 21-gun salute.

The ceremony starts at 6 p.m. at the Franklin Street Fire Station.
