LEOMINSTER, Mass. – The Douglas girls soccer team hasn't won a state championship since 2002, but the Tigers could change that after beating Georgetown on Monday night in the Division 5 state semifinals 4-0.
Sadie O'Toole scored twice for Douglas while Julia Kaminski and Meg Brazeau each scored once.
"Yeah, honestly, there's no better feeling than this," said Douglas captain Olivia Defalco. "This is just a dream come true. I feel like we can win it all."
"Especially our senior year, it feels so good to win like that," said Captain Ava Haire.
Douglas is 16-5-1 on the season. They face Hull at 2 p.m. Saturday at Curry College for the Division 5 state championship.
In division 5 boys soccer state semifinal action, Sutton beat Bromfield 3-1.
Sean Venuti had two goals for the Sammies and Kyle Kolofsky added another.
Sutton is 19-3 on the season. They face Dearborn STEM Academy at 7 p.m. Saturday at Curry College for the Division 5 state championship.
