WORCESTER, Mass. — It will be a big weekend for the Holy Cross men's hockey program, as the Crusaders are retiring Tyler McGregor's jersey on Sunday.

McGregor scored the overtime goal against Minnesota in the 2006 NCAA playoffs to beat the Gophers, in the greatest upset in college playoff hockey history.

McGregor had a great career for Holy Cross. He was a two-time All-Atlantic Hockey selection and was the league's Player of the Year his senior year. He also helped lead the Crusaders to two league titles.

Holy Cross is playing Army West Point on Saturday and Sunday at the Hart Center in their first two league games of the season. The Crusaders have a bunch of freshmen and some transfers on this year's team, so the captains and the seniors are bringing everyone into the team culture, system and just building that chemistry is big for Holy Cross to have success this season.

"Yeah I mean that's huge, it starts with the older guys, guys with letters but we have leaders that aren't wearing letters too,” said captain Matt Shatsky. "We've got a lot of guys on the team, veterans, returning guys, that are good at bringing those younger guys in and making them feel comfortable. That's the main thing we want to make sure guys have confidence on the ice, when they walk in the building. Just so they can perform at their best level when it counts when they're out there."

Holy Cross hosts Army West Point on Saturday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 5 p.m. at the Hart Center.
