AUBURN, Mass. — The Auburn boys soccer team is hosting Leukemia Night on Wednesday.

They are honoring and supporting one of their teammates, Mateo Padilla, a sophomore who has been at Boston Children's Hospital since May 2024 fighting leukemia.

The Rockets are also supporting a couple of other athletes from Central Massachusetts that are battling cancer.

The game starts at 5:30 p.m. at Auburn High School. The whole night means a lot to Padilla's Auburn team.

"It's to show support to everyone who has leukemia, but mainly to Matteo and the four who are around our community," said captain Ayslan Boscollo. "And it's just to show that we're always there for them, not just the soccer community not just Auburn, everyone around here is also supporting them. We're also at halftime, we're getting everyone that's in the stands to come out and take a picture to show them that everyone who's here is not just here to watch a soccer game, but we're here to support them on the field and off."
