LENOX, Mass. - Berkshire Health Systems is working on a new urgent care after they saw the need in patients grow in the last few years.
They invested around $2 million in funding for the new center and is expected sometime in January or February and will be located in The Center at Lenox Plaza.
The new urgent care will mirror the current site in Pittsfield that saw more than 35,000 patients in 2023 compared to 17,000 in 2020.
“Somewhere from about 30 people a day now to now over 100 people a day," said Dr. Michael McHugh who is the chair of the emergency department at Berkshire Medical Center. "So, we’ve reached the physical capacity that we have here on East Street, yet we know that there’s more need out there and we wanted to meet that need."
When it opens the urgent care will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. every day excluding Thanksgiving and Christmas.
