LANESBOROUGH, Mass. — The Age Friendly Park Committee says they have plans for the Bridge Street Park.

Their plans include a pickleball court, a shezebo, which is a combination of a sheshed and gazebo for people to go in for board games or coffee, wiffle ball and more.

Linda Pruyne came up with the idea and is looking to make the park a destination for everyone, including the senior community, to enjoy and have a healthy, accessible place and meet others within the community.

“Isolation becomes a real issue for some seniors, especially in a rural community I mean we don’t have a lot of public transportation available, and driving becomes an issue so a place people can just gather,” Pruyne, who is the chair for the Age Friendly Park Committee, said.

The committee is raising money for the park to do some of what they envision. Their next step is to do an engineering and design plan.

In the meantime, they are still utilizing the park for other activities to establish it as a place to gather.

Sept. 22 is when a psychic tarot reading, an ice cream social and other activities are planned for the space.

“That’s the type of thing that I hope happens you know where all people from all generations can interact get to know each other learn from each other experience things that’s the type of thing I’m hoping this park will be," Pruyne said.
