BURLINGTON, Mass. - UMass Chan Medical School is expanding with a new campus north of Boston.

The UMass Chan-Lahey Regional Medical School campus in Burlington opened this month and welcomed the inaugural group of 32 students.

The first-year medical school students will follow the core curriculum of UMass Chan in Worcester, in addition to a special track of study.

It’s called LEAD@Lahey and focuses on leadership, health systems science and interprofessional education.

The campus is a partnership between Beth Israel Lahey Health and UMass Chan Medical School.

This is the second regional campus of UMass Chan.

The population-based Urban and Rural Community Health track at UMass-Chan Baystate in Springfield launched in 2017.
