WORCESTER, Mass. – A Worcester pizza delivery driver was robbed at gunpoint early Thursday morning. It's the fourth armed robbery of a pizza delivery driver in the same neighborhood in less than a month.
Police said it happened around 1:18 a.m. on Lund Street, where the first armed robbery took place on Aug. 12.
The driver told officers he was delivering pizza when two men approached him and demanded money. One of the men allegedly had a firearm in his hand.
The suspects allegedly left with cash.
"It is a concern, it’s an obvious pattern,” said Lt. Sean Murtha. “We don’t have evidence it’s the same people doing it every time, but they are all in the same neighborhood and involve two suspects. So, it is a major concern. Thankfully, nobody has been hurt yet, but any time guns are involved in a violent crime like this, it's a major concern. A robbery like this is a violent crime, pointing a gun on somebody. So, it is a major concern. A lot of times people that engage in this kind of crime also do other things that are violent too, so it's a top priority to get them in custody."
Police said the delivery driver was not hurt.
The robberies are under investigation by the Detective Bureau.
