SHREWSBURY, Mass. - The Shrewsbury football team has a simple goal for pre-season camp — get 1% better every day.
The Colonials are leaning on their senior class to show the way. The captains take their role seriously and like this year's squad.
"So this offseason I've seen energy that I haven't seen in seasons before," said captain Ethan Lepoer. "I think it comes down to leadership and how we brought the young kids up."
"The team looks great," said captain Jett Ellis. "We have a lot of young guys, and they're making progress every day. As coach said, we're making a sword, starts off as stone then each day we're hammering away at it, making it sharper and sharper. So we're getting better every day."
Shrewsbury opens up the season on Friday, Sept. 6 at Hudson at 7 p.m.
