WORCESTER, Mass. – The growing number of migrant families coming to Massachusetts has community health centers serving a new group of patients.
There are 1,400 community health centers in the United States. The Family Health Center of Worcester serves more 30,000 people.
CEO Lou Brady said they've recently seen an increase in the number of migrants being treated in their facility.
"These are folks who are arriving with little or nothing,” said Brady. “And so, we have deployed our teams to help people get access to health insurance, to services and to speak to them in the languages that they're accustomed to and to ensure that their needs are met."
During this National Health Center Week, Family Health Center is raising awareness.
They offer service in 77 different languages and do outreach programs.
