AUBURN, Mass. - The Auburn summer field hockey league provides one of the only opportunities local high school kids have to play during the summer and improve their skills all the while having fun with their friends.

Auburn and Doherty played a great game on Wednesday night, and after the game the players talked about why they love this league.

"This league is really fun to play in because it just gives us a better experience of what the season's going to look like," said Auburn player Gianna Candelaria. "And we get to play with other teams that we're going to play so we get a good perspective on how the other teams will play in the season."

"It's a lot of fun to come out here and work on skills with other teams that we play," said Auburn player Maia Tatum. "And I think it's really good to do it in the summer so we can practice for the actual season and work on everything as a team."

"What I really enjoy about the summer league is it gives us real preparation for the season," said Doherty player Marisa Smachetti. "And another thing I really enjoy is seeing all my friends from club, they all play at different schools."

"I really love this summer league it gets us prepared for the season," said Doherty player Jayden Wasgatt. "Get's us playing with our teamates lets us see how we're going to be in the season. It's really exciting to be able to talk to everyone after not seeing them for a few months after school."
