BRIMFIELD, Mass. – It's been 31 years since Holly Piiraninen was abducted from Sturbridge. On the somber anniversary, her family remains committed to finding answers.
The 10-year-old girl and her brother went for a walk while at their grandmother's. Her brother returned but Holly never did. Her body was found more than two months later in nearby Brimfield.
Her killer has never been caught.
Holly's aunt said the last 31 years have been a roller coaster, and the pain never goes away.
"If someone's holding on to information, I can't imagine in what good conscience they could do that, but we really want them to share whatever they know, even if they don't think it's anything significant. You just never know,” said Holly’s aunt, Carla Jackman. “We know who the people of interest are. And we want them to know that they’re still on the radar. We haven’t forgotten about them, and they know who they are. We just really need some closure. I mean, my mom’s turning 88 this year. It would be wonderful if we could get answers in her lifetime."
Last year, the Hamdpen District Attorney's Office released new information about investigation, which included further forensic testing on items documented in 1993, including a white tank top with a blue, purple and pink colored “Boston” motif on the front.
The DA’s office said anyone with information on the shirt or case is asked to contact them.
