LENOX, Mass. - Rep. Richard Neal announced a $750,000 earmark for the Lenox Town Hall restoration project.

The project will restore and repair the interior and exterior parts of the building.

Some of these repairs include addressing water damage in the rotunda, repairing and restoring the dome, and installing more modern and energy-efficient lighting fixtures.

Rep. Smitty Pignatelli, who is Lenox's interim town manager, had experiences with the roof leaking water and knew it needed to be fixed.

“It’s a condition that was going to make the building worse," Pignatelli said. [It's] a town building built in 1901 we have to preserve and protect these assets we have in the town and the congressmen was a big asset to help us do that."

Some repairs have already been made.

Lenox Select Board chair Neal Maxymillian says work still needs to be done and should be started on the building later this year.
