WORCESTER, Mass. — Worcester's Greek Festival was busy Saturday afternoon despite the wet and cloudy weather.
Saturday was the second of three days at Saint Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral. The biennial gathering is a celebration of all things Greek, with entertainment, music and, of course, food. Vendors have been cooking up classic dishes and desserts like moussaka, spanakopita, lamb, gyros and baklava.
It's a tradition many who stop by say they cannot miss.
"I love it," Catherine Killen, who was visiting from Grafton, said. "It's the best event in Worcester every year. I love the dancing, the food, the desserts. It's just the best."
"Oh, I love it," visitor John McNamara said. "One of my best friends from high school — this has been her church since she has been growing up. So, we've been coming to this to visit her and the family every year, and it's a good time."
"I'm loving it," Cathy Marleau of Worcester said. "It's something great to do on a Saturday afternoon, time with my friends, and looking forward to some good food."
The doors open for the final day of the festival Sunday at noon. Things close down around 8 p.m.
