WORCESTER, Mass. - Students are wrapping up the school year and the Worcester Public Library is lending a helping hand to make summer reading more accessible.

A new program will offer free access to both physical and digital copies of summer reading books.

This means more than 7,000 students in grades seven through 10 won't have to worry about buying them.

The library said it's in an effort to foster a love of reading in the whole family.

"The overall goal of establishing this program is to just make reading easier for our families,” said Executive Director Jason Homer. “We know there's so many things going on so we’ve embedded it into the school app, we've been embedded it into any time you visit the library. We just want your kids to read and to hopefully reduce the summer slide the best we can."

Books can be found at outreach events or online through the Sora app on students' Clever accounts.
