WORCESTER, Mass. - Veterans Inc. is preparing to welcome hundreds of local veterans and their families for its annual Stand Down event next weekend.

On Saturday, June 21 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., a section of Grove Street in front of the Veterans Inc. headquarters, as well as a nearby field, will be filled with different organizations offering support for local veterans.

They can also receive food, new clothes and personal care items. The Stand Down also includes a career fair and employment and training services.

“Whether you're looking for a change in career or a new job, housing options, health care, or just looking for a general benefit eligibility questions, we're here for you,” said marketing specialist Amanda Bennett. “You’ll be able to get one year of services in just one day.”

It’s all part of Veterans Inc.’s mission to ensure veterans can live healthy and fulfilling lives as civilians.

“This is beyond exciting, if you're a veteran, come on down,” said employment training manager Dan LePore. “We have over 50 employers that are going to be here. The Kraft Group, Dana Farber, PGA, Ocean State Job Lot, Clean Harbors and many more. They're here to hire veterans.”

Veterans Inc. executive director Denis Leary has called the Stand Down the organization’s ‘most looked forward to event of the year.’

Veterans will also be able to get connected with housing resources, legal services and counseling and substance abuse referrals.
